Bluebox is delivering digital passenger experiences on regional aircraft around the world – from the Canadian arctic to the Kazakh steppe
Offering much more than entertainment, Bluebox’s W-IFE platforms are delivering an engaging digital services to passengers around the world – and regional aircraft operators are tapping into the passenger engagement and revenue generating potential.
Here’s what a few of our customers operating regional aircraft are doing and how Bluebox’s W-IFE platform and deployment options suit a wide range of customer requirements:
Air Inuit, a regional airline in Canada serving Quebec’s northernmost communities in Nunavik, deployed Bluebox Wow across its Boeing 737 and Dash 8 fleet in 2017 – making it the first turboprop operator in North America to deploy an IFE system on board. The physical flexibility of the portable W-IFE platform was critical for Air Inuit, as their Dash 8-300 45-seat “combi” allows a cabin seating of 45, and expands the aft cargo hold to accommodate 4,000 pounds in a self-contained C class cargo compartment.
Christian Busch, now CEO of Air Inuit, spoke about working with Bluebox, the flexibility of the platform and the deployment’s impact on the passenger experience:
A long-standing customer of Bluebox’s original tablet-based IFE systems since 2009, Air Astana, the national carrier of Kazakhstan, marked a global first when it introduced W-IFE on the new Embraer E190-E2 aircraft in 2018 by deploying Bluebox Wow.
Japanese carrier ANA extended its IFE service to domestic and regional routes to offer passengers a broader IFE experience across its network, by deploying Bluebox Wow on its Q400 fleet in 2019. These are operated from regional hubs such as Itami, Fukuoka, Chūbu Centrair International, and Chitose airports.
In August 2021, Royal Jordanian expanded it’s Bluebox Wow deployment from its long-haul routes to its regional routes served by its fleet of Embraer E175 and E195 aircraft.
Speaking about expanding the “SkyConnect” service to these routes, Royal Jordanian Vice Chairman & CEO, Samer Majali said: “The addition of Bluebox’s wireless IFE solution to our Airbus fleet proved very quickly to be a valuable service enhancement enjoyed by our passengers, and so we wanted to expand this to our passengers flying on our Embraer aircraft as well – ensuring that wherever our passengers are flying they have access to our “SkyConnect” service. The flexibility of Bluebox Wow – and the excellent support we’ve had from Bluebox – has helped us ensure that as we emerge from the pandemic, our passengers will return to a rich in-flight experience and we’re making the most effective use of W-IFE on board.”
